FAQ – IEEE AI Pioneer Summit

1. What is the IEEE AI Pioneer Summit?
A: An annual two-day in-person meeting organized by IEEE Entrepreneurship (Region 9) focused on Artificial Intelligence and entrepreneurship. It features keynotes, panels, and a pitch competition for early-stage startups.

2. When and where does it take place?
A: The first edition took place on September 24th and 25th, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, at CEFET - RJ (Federal Center for Technological Education) - Auditorium 1 and annexes, with space for over 250 people, including speakers, investors, founders, IEEEE members, and the general public.

3. Is there a fee for the event?
A: No. The first edition in 2025 was free.
4. Who can participate?
A: Anyone interested in AI and innovation – students, professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors – regardless of whether they are an IEEE member.
5. How do I register to attend the pitches and talks?
A: Registration opens alongside the IEEE R9 Entrepreneurship call in May each year.
6. I want to be a speaker, mentor, judge, panelist, competing startup, or investor. How do I do this?
A: There are specific forms in the "Be a Protagonist" section of the website. Fill out the corresponding form; all submissions are reviewed by the Program Committee. Approval is not automatic.
7. Which startups can register for the Pitch?
A: Only startups focused on AI applied to business or social impact. Once accepted, they must submit a pitch video in English (up to 15 minutes) for submission to IEEE Entrepreneurship global, according to official guidelines.

8. What is the Pitch Competition like?
A: Held live on the morning of the second day (September 25th). Each startup had up to 15 minutes (10-minute pitch + 5-minute Q&A). The judging panel took place in the afternoon of the same day, with the winners announced at the closing.

9. Will the presentations have simultaneous translation?
A: No. All on-stage content will be in Portuguese. The English video is required only for startups for international submissions.

10. I'm a sponsor. How do I participate?
A: Sponsors can hold quick briefings, distribute giveaways, and will have their logo and mentions on the website, official materials, and report to the IEEE.

11. Will I receive a certificate?
A: IEEE members receive an official certificate of participation. Non-members are free to participate and, if they wish, can join the IEEE before or during the event.

12. May I submit a presentation in English?
A: We accept proposals in Portuguese or English, but presentations will be given in Portuguese on stage.
13. Do you work with accessible venues?
A: Yes. Ramps, elevators, and reserved seating are available. Specific needs can be specified at the time of registration.
14. Do I need a visa or letter of invitation?
A: International visitors receive a letter of invitation after registration is confirmed. Check consular requirements before traveling.

15. What is the dress code?
A: Business casual is suggested for speakers; participants may wear comfortable casual clothing.​
